SUPERSTRAP
by
RedArt...
Small was my first impression of the Super Strap
by Red Art.

We Abused the strap! |
Upon closer inspection I realized that even though
this strap looked like a 1" strap it was in reality
a strap doubled back onto itself making it a 2"
strap that's one inch wide
make sense? I had
discovered the Red Art Super Strap in one of the trade
magazines and thought it warranted further investigation.
The strap I received was a 25-foot; I chose this size
rather than the 12' or the 50' based on my personal
experience with tug straps. I was also happy about
the fact that the Super Strap was constructed the
way I suspected it was. The entire length of the strap
consists of pass through integrated loops that you
are able to feed the strap through at any given point.
Why would this be good? It will allow you to make
infinite adjustments to the length of the strap
kewl! Great for those tight technical trails where
the full length would be impractical to use.

| Test time! Down to see John, my neighbour
to see if he was interested in getting his Jeep stuck.
I think it took about me about 2 seconds of pleading.
Off we went with our Jeeps to the local trail that's
just big enough to test out that new bit equipment that
one may have installed ten minutes earlier. We had tough
time trying to find a really good truck-eating hole
that would completely swallow up a semi-truck, but were
able to find a nice muddy bit dug out with what appeared
to be something like 44s. We got him stuck. He was sitting
on the skid plates and differentials. Perfect, this
was a position where I could not use the entire length
of the strap
no problem as I just braided it through
itself 3 times as recommended to make it shorter without
undoing any clevis. I'd like to point out that it was
fairly easy to do even though I had my winch gloves
on. |

Easy to attach two straps and just as easy to
disconnect. |

Shown braided three loops. |
I went out the following week with another
group of guys, Jay, Ted, and Chris in my effort to find
out what the downside to this strap was
we couldn't
find one. It was a much better this week as it had rained
and filled up those mud holes making things very gooey
and slippery. We continued with our quest to get stuck
which took almost no effort and were actually forced
in some cases to shorten or add to the strap. If you've
ever attached two tug straps together by running one
loop through another you know how difficult it can be
to undo sometimes (Never join two straps together with
a clevis, it'll Kill you). The Super strap makes this
really easy by simply feeding it through the tug strap
loop and braiding it onto itself and is just as easy
to disconnect when done. This strap is strong and wow
it has quite the elastic effect! |
| Our conclusion is that this
is a very versatile strap that can be used in many different
situations due to its design. It could be used as a
bridle to the frame, control strap for competition in
addition to a regular tug strap. It's also small and
compact taking up less real estate in your rig than
a typical tug strap. I'm certain only the imagination
would limit the use of the Super Strap. The Super Strap's
usefulness will surpass a normal strap life due to its
infinite length adjustment allowing you to put a loop
further down the strap as it wears out. If you break
the loop in a typical tug strap it's either scrap or
it must be re-stitched which is unlikely to happen due
to the inconvenience and cost. I found out through Red
Art that in the next couple of months or so, an ATV
strap and an even heavier version of the 8000lb strap
(web 10,000lb) will be available. |

The size of this strap is very deceptive, it handled
just about anthing we threw at it. |
